Privacy Policy

The information we collect depends on how you use TheWeb3Radar. We collect only what is needed to operate the service.

Account and authentication information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and name. If you sign up with email and password, we store a hashed password through our authentication provider. If you sign in with Google, we receive information from Google such as your name, email address, and profile image URL.

Profile information. You may optionally provide a username, bio, avatar, banner image, and social profile links (for example, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, or GitHub).

Session information. When you are signed in, we maintain session records that may include a session token, expiration time, IP address, and browser user agent.

Content and activity on the service. If you use TheWeb3Radar, we store content and activity you create or generate, including posts, comments, bookmarks, votes, and reading history associated with your account.

Uploaded media. Images you upload for your profile or posts are stored through our file hosting provider.

Contact form submissions. If you submit a contact form on our website, we collect the information you provide in that form, such as your name, email address, phone number, and message.

Browser preferences stored locally. The website may store theme preferences in your browser's local storage and temporary scroll position in session storage. This information stays on your device and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Chrome extension usage. Our Chrome extension replaces the browser new tab with the TheWeb3Radar website and may request an unread post count from our servers when you are signed in. The extension does not collect a separate account profile beyond what the website already processes for your signed-in session.

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking tools in the application.

We use the information described above to:

• create and manage your account and keep you signed in;
• provide core features such as feeds, posts, comments, bookmarks, voting, profiles, and reading history;
• display profile and community content you choose to publish or view;
• sync profile images received from Google when needed;
• respond to contact form submissions;
• operate the Chrome extension unread-count badge for signed-in users;
• maintain, secure, and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal information.

TheWeb3Radar uses Better Auth for authentication and supports sign-in with Google OAuth and email and password. If you choose Google Sign-In, Google authenticates you and shares certain account information with us according to your Google account settings and Google's privacy policies.

We use the information received from Google to create and maintain your TheWeb3Radar account, identify you when you return, and display your name and profile image where appropriate. We do not receive your Google password.

OAuth-related tokens needed to maintain your Google-linked account may be stored securely in our authentication system. You can review Google's practices at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the limited circumstances below:

• Service providers. We use infrastructure providers to host and operate TheWeb3Radar, including Vercel for application hosting and file storage, PostgreSQL-compatible database hosting for application data, and Google for OAuth sign-in. These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the service.
• Information you make visible on the service. Profile information and content you publish, such as your username, bio, posts, and comments, may be visible to other users according to how the service displays that information.
• Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the service.

We retain account, profile, content, and activity information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Session records are retained according to our authentication system's session lifetime and security requirements.

If you delete your account through the account settings available in the application, we delete or deactivate associated account data according to our deletion process, subject to any data we are required to retain by law or for legitimate business purposes such as security and fraud prevention.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information processed by TheWeb3Radar, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and secure authentication practices. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You can:

• review and update profile information in your account settings;
• change your password if you use email and password sign-in;
• delete your account through the account settings in the application;
• sign out of your account at any time;
• choose not to provide optional profile fields;
• remove or disable the Chrome extension at any time through your browser's extension settings.

If you use Google Sign-In, you may also manage the connection between your Google account and TheWeb3Radar through your Google account permissions.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of TheWeb3Radar after an update becomes effective means you accept the revised policy.
